Alexander Widell is a Partner of the firm and serves as Co-Chair of its Litigation Practice Group.  Mr. Widell has over 30 years of experience in complex business litigation and focuses his practice on high stakes business disputes.  He has vast experience in corporate governance, securities litigation, and hospitality where he has represented luxury hotel owners and operators in “bet-the-business” litigation.  Mr. Widell has represented directors and officers, underwriters and certified public accountants in federal securities cases and investigations brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission and private plaintiffs.   He also counsels directors and officers concerning matters of corporate governance and derivative litigation, as well as individual and institutional fiduciaries in trusts and estates litigation.  Mr. Widell also litigates complex employment disputes, and has successfully represented both employees and employers and their management in non-compete litigation and in lawsuits brought under the state and federal discrimination laws.

Mr. Widell is also well-versed in alternative dispute resolution, and has tried cases to conclusion in arbitrations conducted under the auspices of the American Arbitration Association, the New York Stock Exchange and FINRA.

As a recognized leader in his field, Mr. Widell has served as a speaker and frequent author on various topics relating to complex business litigation.

Mr. Widell was also an adjunct professor at The New York Law School where he taught legal writing and research.
