Robert L. Schonfeld Moderates & Jonathan Trafimow Speaks At Nassau Academy of Law’s CLE “Does Title VII Prohibit Discrimination on Basis of Sexual Orientation and Gender Expression? What Will the Supreme Court Say?”

Robert L. Schonfeld, counsel to the firm, will moderate and Jonathan Trafimow, a partner of the firm, will be a featured panel speaker at the Nassau Academy of Law’s  CLE seminar “Does Title VII Prohibit Discrimination on Basis of Sexual Orientation and Gender Expression? What Will the Supreme Court Say?” on April 11, 2019 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nassau County Bar Association (NCBA).  The NCBA’ s Civil Rights, Federal Courts, Diversity and Inclusion, Labor & Employment and LGBTQ Committees are the event sponsors.

A panel of experts will discuss and debate the merits of the decision and the dissenting opinion of the United States Court of Appeals, Second Circuit in Zarda v. Altitude Express, Inc.  That decision held that the provisions of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 apply to the LGBTQ community with regard to employment discrimination.  The panel will also discuss the Eleventh Circuit opinion in Bostock v. Clayton County which took the opposite position and EEOC v. RG&GR Funeral Homes, Inc. where the Sixth Circuit held that Title VII was applicable to discrimination against transgender persons.

The program provides 1.5 credits in diversity, inclusion & elimination of bias.
