IWIRC Awards Leslie A. Berkoff With Melnik Award

Garden City, New York; March 23, 2009—  Leslie A. Berkoff, a partner in the Garden City law firm of Moritt Hock Hamroff & Horowitz LLP will be honored by the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) at its Annual Spring Luncheon to be held on April 1, 2009 in Washington, D.C.  Ms. Berkoff will be presented with IWIRC’s Melnik Award for her outstanding dedication and service to the organization.

IWIRC is an international professional association that works to enhance the professional status and reputation of women in insolvency practice.  IWIRC provides opportunities for networking, professional development, leadership and mentoring on local and international levels.

Ms. Berkoff is a partner with the firm and serves as Co-Chair of the firm’s Litigation and Bankruptcy practice groups.  She concentrates her practice in the area of bankruptcy litigation and workouts and represents a variety of corporate debtors, trustees, creditors and creditor committees both nationally and locally.  Ms. Berkoff served as Chair of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) from 2004-2008 and has served on its Board of Directors for over ten years.  She currently serves as Co-Chair of the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Healthcare Insolvency Committee and is an active member of the Nassau Bar Association and a past Chair of its Bankruptcy Committee.  In addition, Ms. Berkoff serves on the Board of Editors of Pratt’s Journal of Bankruptcy Law and is past President and Board Member of Hofstra School of Law’s Alumni Association.
