Leslie Berkoff Receives Prestigious Appointments With ABI and U.S. Bankruptcy Court

Garden City, NY; February 10, 2014 — Leslie Berkoff, a partner at the Garden City law firm of Moritt Hock & Hamroff LLP, has been selected to serve as Co-Chair of Special Projects for the American Bankruptcy Institute’s (ABI) Mediation Committee.  In addition, she has been appointed as an inaugural member of the Chapter 11 Lawyers and Judges Advisory Committee for the United States Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of New York.

The American Bankruptcy Institute is the nation’s largest multi-disciplinary, non-partisan organization dedicated to research and education on matters related to insolvency.  The group was founded more than thirty years ago in order to provide Congress and the public with unbiased analysis of bankruptcy issues.  Its membership is currently comprised of more than 13,000 leading professionals throughout the country in fields ranging from law to lending and finance.

A partner with Moritt Hock & Hamroff, where she also serves as Chair of the firm’s Bankruptcy practice group, Ms. Berkoff concentrates her practice in the area of bankruptcy and restructuring litigation and corporate workouts.  She represents a variety of corporate debtors, trustees, creditors and creditor committees both nationally and locally.  Ms. Berkoff’s practice also includes an emphasis on equipment leasing and healthcare law and she has experience in commercial litigation and corporate transactions.  She is an active member of the Nassau County Bar Association and a past Chair of its Bankruptcy Committee. She also serves on the Board of Editors of Pratt’s Journal of Bankruptcy Law.  Ms. Berkoff earned her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law.
