Neil J. Moritt

Neil J. Moritt is the Founding Partner (retired) of Moritt Hock & Hamroff LLP. He retired at the end of 2018 but his wisdom, advice and counsel remains available to us.

Mr. Moritt has been a guest speaker and has conducted seminars in various aspects of bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, complex construction litigation and direct marketing law. He has also written and lectured on lender liability issues. In addition, Mr. Moritt has appeared on news shows including CNBC’s ‘How to Succeed in Business.’

Henry L. Goldberg

Henry L. Goldberg retired from the firm in December of 2023 and is the former Chair of the Construction Practice Group. As a prominent authority in construction law and government contracting matters, Mr. Goldberg enjoyed working relationships with the leadership of most contracting agencies in the area. For many years, he was a member of the MOLES, a fraternal engineering organization in the heavy construction industry, and the most prestigious organization of its kind in the world.

At the time of his retirement, Mr. Goldberg served as Chairman of the New York Building Congress’ Public Procurement Committee, as well as General Counsel to the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA)-Metro New York/New Jersey Chapter. He also served as Legal Counsel Chair to CMAA National, General Counsel to the Subcontractors Trade Association (STA) and Counsel to the Association of Electrical Contractors, Inc. (AEC) and served five terms as President of the Construction Financial Management Association’s (CFMA) New York City Chapter. He also served as Counsel to the CFMA’s, Long Island Chapter, where he was a founding member of its Board of Directors.

Mr. Goldberg was an active member of the Associated General Contractors of America, the General Contractors Association of New York, the Construction Industry Council of Westchester and Hudson Valley, the Long Island Contractors Association, the National Contract Management Association, and the American Bar Association’s Public Contract Law, Fidelity and Surety Law, Construction Litigation and Construction Industry Forum Committees. He is the former Editor-In-Chief of Federal Contract Management-A Manual for The Contract Professional published by LexisNexis (2017), and he also served on the “National Advisory Committee” of The Journal of Construction Accounting and Taxation, published by Warren Gorham & Lamont, where he was appointed as an Expert Advisor to the American Arbitration Association.

Michael J. Hogan

Michael J. Hogan retired from the firm in March of 2024 where he served as Counsel in the firm’s Construction Practice Group. Mr. Hogan concentrated his practice in the representation of general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, engineers, owners, developers and suppliers and vendors of construction systems and materials in disputes involving public and private construction projects.

As a recognized leader in his field, Mr. Hogan was often called upon by various industry trade groups including the New York State Affordable Housing Corporation and the National Contract Management Association for presentations of aspects of construction law and public contract procurement.

Seth P. Stein

Seth P. Stein retired from the firm in December of 2022 and is the former Chair of the Not-For-Profit Practice Group where he concentrated his practice in the representation of programs and agencies that provided residential, educational, and day services to children and adults with handicapping conditions.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Stein was a partner at Stein & Schonfeld LLP where a significant portion of his practice involved program development including providing counsel and assistance in opening new programs through all phases of development, incorporation, and establishment; site identification and location; negotiation and acquisition of property; negotiation of state agency capital assistance; community opposition; construction contracts; zoning, land use and environmental issues; program certification; securing judicial approval under the NY Not-For- Profit Corporation Law; and rate setting and agency financing.

Since 1980, Mr. Stein served as General Counsel and since 1988, as Executive Director, of the New York State Psychiatric Association, the medical specialty organization representing 4,500 psychiatrists in New York State. He also served as Executive Director and General Counsel to the Alliance of Long Island Agencies, Inc. an association of not-for-profit agencies providing services to consumers with developmental disabilities and their families in both Nassau and Suffolk Counties. In addition, Mr. Stein also represented voluntary agencies in financing the development of programs including school programs through tax exempt bonds issues by local county industrial development agencies.
